Are you guys planning on peering with GameRail? Its a client side program that allows gamers that have really bad routing problems to still get low pings in games. It doesn't cost you guys anything at all to peer. And it will definantly higher your sales.

With the release of the full version of GameRail people are looking to see if this is enabled on servers before purchasing.

Theres a peering application on their site. www.gamerail.com

Most of the Networks we use are already peered with Gamerail, the only benefit we'd have with using it would be to say that we are using Gamerail.

There are also mixed feelings and results from people using Gamerail, depending on who you talk to.

Have you tried talking with your ISP? My kids routing at his moms takes some stupid hops because she lives in a hick town north of KC. To get to a NY server, he goes KC through Atlanta, then DC or something stupid like that. My place he goes Chicago to NY. To Chicago and Dallas he pings in the low teens here, buy 40 ish there. Some is the out pipe, but it's inexcusable to have bad routing in this day and age. If you have a friend with a different provider, see how his routing is and if your ISP doesn't care, switch if there is a better choice.

I've heard nothing bad or good about Game Rail, but if your routing sucks, Game Rail wont help if you're taking a bad trip to their hub to start things off.

I live north of Houston and tested GameRail to Dallas.

My ping with Gamerail off was 13-17ms to all the servers.
My ping with Gamerail on was 21ms to all servers.

I wasn't really impressed. Now if my latency was to drop 20-30ms to a location more than 200 miles away (like Chicago/Virginia) then I would be impressed.

Gamerail only works with some ISPs, and even then its still hit or miss as they implement new stuff. Before they took my ISP, Suddenlink, off of its former backbone, cox, my ping with gamerail dropped from 90ish from New Mexico to Chicago to about 50ish. And to Dallas from 40s to high 20s/low 30s.

But now suddenlink seems to be redoing their routing and my ping to the Dallas gamerail gateway is 70 so have to wait for my ISP to fix things before I can use gamerail to fix the rest.
